Platinum Black Truffle dinner – AMBER

This summer, treat yourself with Tasmanian black truffles at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental’s French fine dining restaurant. The fact that French truffles can only be harvested during the northern hemisphere winter season has done nothing to stop Amber from celebrating the summer with a five-course Platinum Black Truffle dinner.

Instead, the Landmark Mandarin Oriental’s flagship restaurant sources its “black diamonds” from Tasmania, a place known to be home to the cleanest air in the world. Tasmania’s environment, as well as the fact that it is winter in the southern hemisphere at the moment, makes it the ideal place to nurture Culinary Director Richard Ekkebus’s favorite ingredient. The unique growing season enriches the truffle’s aroma and taste, making them fresher and more fragrant than their Italian or French counterparts.

The Platinum menu is priced at HK$2,488 per person, with an additional HK$1,388 per person for wine pairing.

The Icon and the Iconoclasts – LOUIS VUITTON

LOUIS VUITTON has recruited Karl Lagerfeld to design for the label, the Chanel helmer has been asked by Vuitton’s executive vice president, Delphine Arnault, to give his interpretation of the signature LV monogram for a series of bags to celebrate the label’s 160th anniversary. 

Designers Marc Newson, Christian Louboutin, and Rei Kawakubo, photographer Cindy Sherman, and architect Frank Gehry are also taking part in the collaborative project – called The Icon and the Iconoclasts – and, as the bags will only be available for a matter of months, they will no doubt be in high demand. The bags will be available in mid-October.

The newly re-imagined Moschino

Moschino, under the leadership of the always perfectly kitschy Jeremy Scott, launched their Fall 2014 women’s campaign and result is nothing short of flawless. The campaign, styled by formidable visionary Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, stars super model Linda Evangelista shot by photographer Steven Meisel in understated black and white, adding a certain elegance to Scott’s fun, campy designs. Though the collection may have taken Tumblr kids and street style stars by storm, the collection’s campaign promotes a certain kind of classic timelessness and iconicity that makes the images, and the clothing, all that much more appealing. Who would’ve thought McDonalds would ever be the target of a high fashion update?

Mandarin Oriental x Chloé Exhibition

Mandarin Oriental will be presenting an exhibition in the Clipper Lounge throughout the summer months of artworks curated from Chloé’s fashion archives. The Chloé Moments exhibition will showcase the rise of the luxury brand since its early beginnings and in celebration guests of the hotel will enjoy some fantastic offers and a chance to take home a signature Chloé handbag.

The hotel will be offering a “Get Carried Away with Chloé” package, which includes a one-night stay in the hotel, limited edition Mini Baylee bag valued at HK$11,270, a welcome bottled of ‘R’ de Ruinart Champagne, a delightful afternoon tea for two in the Clipper Lounge, breakfast for two in the Clipper Lounge or Café Causette and a copy of the Chloé Attitudes book. Dolce & Gabbana Mosaico Collection

Dolce & Gabbana proudly honours once more the traditions of Italian craftsmanship, and for the first time applying the art of micro mosaic to its eyewear. The roots of the process lie in ancient Rome.

The technique of micro mosaic, or filato minute mosaic, requires the spinning of the tiles that composed the mosaic, resulting in tiles that were much smaller and thinner than those used in classic mosaics. The micro mosaic, created exclusively for the Dolce & Gabbana eyewear collection, involves masterly expertise in the spinning of Murano glass, resulting in micro tiles that are then delicately and accurately laid by hand by skilled craftsmen, a technique that constitutes the very foundation of their mosaic craft.

To create the floral compositions in mosaic that embellish the eyewear of Dolce & Gabbana Mosaico Collection, over thirty different filato designs were developed that beautifully recreate the leaves, pistils, and petals of the flower. The result is a true inimitable “artwork” expressing the most refined in premium luxury, and it acts as a tribute to the floral themes that are so beloved by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, themes that are deeply embedded in the DNA of the brand.
