Starting from September, the Lobby Lounge at Prince Hotel will launch a new burger menu, including a 35cm-diameter ‘The King of Burger’. With a hefty price tag of HK$1,000, The King of Burger is a 35cm-diameter, 12-pound burger made up of 10 US ground beef patties and served up with fixings such as tomatoes, romaine lettuce, pickles and cheddar cheese. This heavyweight behemoth is enough to share between 16 persons and requires advanced ordering. The menu also encompasses 12 burgers in different flavours, with highlights including:Double decker surf and turf burger, Lobster burger, Louisiana crab burger.

Sabatini at The Royal Garden joins the three-tiered afternoon tea club with its brand new ‘Roman Holiday’ tea set commencing on August 9, available from 3:15pm to 5:30pm on weekends and public holidays. The tea set boasts a multitude of antipasti, finger sandwiches and signature desserts. Priced at HK$548 for two and HK$288 per person, the tea set includes a complimentary glass of Masottina Prosecco or juice and a cup of Italian coffee or Sabatini’s collection of fine teas. Free flow of the Italian sparkling wine is available with a supplement of HK$108 per person.

Throughout September and October, the pastry team of MO Bar has created a ‘Perfect in Pink and Purple’ afternoon tea set that includes the first signature violet and blueberry jam at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, jointly created by culinary director Richard Ekkebus and three-time world champion jam maker Francis Miot.
The tea sets on weekdays include five types of pastries and savouries, scones, jams from 3:00pm to 5:30pm, priced at HK$278; while dessert buffets are served on weekends and public holidays from 2:30pm to 6:00pm, priced at HK$318. The afternoon teas are complemented by a selection of premier teas and coffees, including free flowing cold-infused hibiscus and blank current Jing tea. A glass of Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin pink champagne is available at an additional HK$120.
A portion of the proceeds from the tea sets will be donated to the Hong Kong Breast Cancer Foundation.

This just in – Dîner en Blanc (DEB) will be happening in Hong Kong at the end of this year, and registration to be part of the exclusive event is now open. For those drawing a blank, DEB was created by Francois Pasquier in Paris over 25 years ago as an event for close friends and acquaintances. The premise: all guests are required to dress entirely head to toe in white, and meet at a secret location (only disclosed at the 11th hour) to partake in an elegant outdoor picnic. Diners are also required to bring their own tables, chairs and cutlery in addition to food and wine, all adhering to the white theme.
Essentially a food flash mob, the event has taken place in some of the city’s most iconic locations, including under the Eiffel Tower, on the Champs Elysees, and the Louvre pyramid. Place your bets on the secret location for Hong Kong now – will it be in West Kowloon, Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park, or Avenue of Stars? Or somewhere less obvious?

Fashion month kicks off in September, and the Ritz-Carlton is keeping up with the times with its upcoming collaboration with luxury shoe designer Jimmy Choo. The hotel’s sky-high Lounge & Bar will be serving drinks crafted by world-class mixologist Lewis Tsang, whose “His & Her” cocktails have been inspired by Choo’s Autumn/Winter 2014 women’s and men’s collections. The fashion forward drinks include: Leather Revolution, mixing French herbal liqueur, 18 years Islay single malt, and Italian vermouth to produce colours that reflect the palette presented in the men’s collection and the Cotton Berry Cloud, a cotton candy-topped vodka-based frozen raspberry smoothie with no added sugar, fresh lime juice and elderflower liqueur, inspired by the dark orchid motif found in the women’s collection.

The annual charity event “Drink For Good” will take place on September 17 at numerous bars and restaurants in Central and Sheung Wan, following on the successful launch of the event last year, and it will joining similar events held in London and New York for a 24-hour global celebration.
Simply purchase drinks at any of the participating bars and restaurants in Central and Sheung Wan that evening (including Aberdeen Street Social, Duddell’s, Souvla and Fu Lu Shou, just to name a few), and HK$5 will be donated to the charity group HandsOn Hong Kong for every drink consumed, giving helping hands to local disadvantaged and disabled children. The event has generated over HK$100,000 in one night last year.

The InterContinental’s Japanese restaurant is bringing a new twist to the afternoon tea scene. Nobu’s new twist on the weekend ritual infuses its innovative new-style Japanese cuisine into a selection of umami and sweet Japanese delicacies served alongside fine Japanese Rishouen green teas or coffee. Umami offerings include a yuba bun, harumaki, Hokkaido cheese and tamagoyaki. Sugar cravings can be satisfied by a matcha waffle, mini dorayaki, and a warabi mochi.
The Simply T-Set is priced at HK$288 for one and $488 for two, and comes with either green tea or coffee. If you’d like a little more with your tea or coffee, opt for the Glassy T-Set, which comes with a choice of a signature Nobu cocktail for the price of HK$388 for one and HK$688 for two. If you’re more of a champagne drinker, order the Fizzy T-Set, which at HK$468 for one and HK$828 for two includes a glass of Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut.
The tea sets are available on Saturdays and Sundays from 2:30pm until 5pm.

This summer Pierre Hermé Paris will be popping up at the Ritz-Carlton’s popular afternoon tea, serving its famed pastry creations from its Fetish Infiniment Citron collection. The collection celebrates the humble lemon in all its zesty glory, exclusively using the Sicilian variation, which happens to be juicier and more flavourful than its ordinary counterparts.
For the first time, guests will be able to taste pastries made exclusively by a Pierre Hermé Paris executive pastry chef flown in from Japan, who will work together with the Ritz-Carlton’s very own executive pastry chef, Richard Long. One treat that afternoon tea aficionados should look forward to is the Chou Infiniment Citron, which is Pierre Hermé’s cream puff creation made of shortbread pastry, lemon cream and candied citrus. Savoury bites, crafted by the Ritz-Carlton’s chef de cuisine Brook Wong, will include a confit duck and foie gras tart, as well as a seafood with lemon butter spread on lemon bread. And of course, macarons will be present.
The patisserie’s irresistible confections will be available at Café 103 from August 15 to 31, 2014, and will be priced at HK$338 per person, or HK$558 for two.

The Lounge at the Four Seasons is one of our favourite spots for tea and, with head pastry chef Ringo Chan at the helm. The afternoon tea set is frequently updated with new creations, and to combat the heat of the season Chan has drawn inspiration from refreshing ingredients such as lychee, lime, passionfruit and lemon verbena to design his latest menu. The highlights included a shot glass of fresh lychee with lychee wine jelly and cremeux, with an osmanthus and lychee ‘sphere’ and sponge cake; coconut almond cake with fresh pineapple dice infused with vanilla; and shortbread cookies with lemon curd, white chocolate and lime mousse, and a mojito jelly. Some of the new ‘pass around’ snacks include a miniature French toast with apricot marmalade and maple syrup, caneles, and teapot-shaped macarons with lemon verbena buttercream.
In addition to the new afternoon tea items, Chan has introduced five new summer ice cream sundaes to The Lounge’s menu. Each delicately composed with attention to detail, included the Pandan Joy (pandan and coconut ice cream with miniature coconut and pumpkin pudding and sesame tuiles), Green Crush (vegan mojito granite, pressed melon salad and puff pastry sticks), and Summer Berries (blackberry twist gelato, raspberry cake, cassis meringue and berry tea jelly).
The sundaes are priced at HK$140 each and the afternoon tea at HK$260 for one and HK$495 for two.
